PlayStation VR2: Sony's Virtual Reality Headset Gets an Update
Sony PlayStation Blog recently updated its post, detailing the past development and future plans for PS VR2. The high-end virtual reality headset was launched last year, but its high price and limited number of exclusive games have hindered its success in the market.
However, things are looking up for PS VR2. Sony is currently testing its ability to access PC games, allowing players more options beyond the PS5 games that are already available through PS VR2. The company hopes to provide this support by 2024, so stay tuned for updates.
One notable addition to PS VR2's library of games is "Resident Evil 4 VR" and "Among Us VR". These games offer different genres that will broaden players' experiences even further.
Another positive development is that a third-party developer named iVRy successfully cracked open PS VR2's hardware certification last year. This allowed them to create a SteamVR driver program that enables full six-degree-of-freedom (6DOF) tracking functionality in conjunction with the headset. With its advanced features like 2000Hz IMU and 60Hz SLAM, it performs similarly to PS5's built-in motion sensing technology.
Overall, while there may have been initial setbacks for PS VR2 as a product,it seems that Sony is actively working on improving it by incorporating PC game support into its offerings. As players continue to explore virtual reality technology at home or on their PCs,it remains exciting to see how this product develops further.
